In which a perfectly good hate-rant is ruined by the weather

So I ordered this beautiful bastard for myself last Thursday. I have been saying “I’ll order a telescope next summer” for at least two or three years now and the combination of the end of the school year, my upcoming birthday, and (at the time) the approach of Father’s Day meant that I finally cracked. I am an Amazon Prime member, which means that I get everything shipped two-day priority.  I ordered my telescope along with a few other telescope-related items on Thursday.  It was to arrive on Saturday. I spent all… Continue reading In which a perfectly good hate-rant is ruined by the weather

How not to kill a customer care rep from Globacom

This blog post starts with me receiving an alert on my phone. Yay! Salaries got paid a week early. As a Nigerian worker with many money draining avenues, I have learned to have an absolutely-cannot-be-trifled-with checklist every month. Tithe? Paid first. Sibling’s allowance? Checked. Data bundles credit? Bought online before the expiry date so auto renewal can do its thing. You, dear reader can therefore imagine my surprise when the week rolls through, my existing data expires, my money is removed AND THE 4.5GB DATA PLAN I SUBSCRIBED FOR DECIDES TO TAKE A HIKE TO JAMAICA! As a law abiding … Continue reading How not to kill a customer care rep from Globacom

My only caveat is for you, the reader to judge all the facts honestly and spiritually. Please do not do whatever you or your spouse are uncomfortable with Continue reading What’s Okay, What’s Not

Living in a land where your leaders want to screw you over, at all costs, without remorse

I have heard adults (for some reason I only place myself in this category when it suits me) talk about all our leaders and mention the worst leaders Nigeria has ever had. Most people will agree that General Abacha was a terror to live under (I was quite young at the time but I still remember the coal pot and sawdust debacle we had to go through) and the ones after him have only been marginally better. Sure we got gsms and network providers, local and national roads with a life expectancy of two weeks (lol), independent power distributors with … Continue reading Living in a land where your leaders want to screw you over, at all costs, without remorse

In which I have failed in my new year resolution barely a month after

In my last post, I listed some of the things in my new year resolution list, which include eating my vegetables religiously, saying my prayers and being an all round better person. I am ashamed to say that I have failed barely a month and half to my strongly worded vows. Why? You may ask. I feel generally all resolutions, be they new year or mid year types need a certain sturdiness of heart to follow through. It boggles the mind how a person can be happily married for 20 years without killing His or her spouse or walking away … Continue reading In which I have failed in my new year resolution barely a month after

In which my new year resolution starts in March, 2015

I have slowly and painfully come to the realization that I have started this year in less than perfect conditions. One, I entered the year in a morose and somewhat dejected frame of mind. This, I fear may have contributed to my funk of the past three months. Three months as March is almost over. I therefore pledge to do the following: Tryto be serious with all my plans for the new year Eat my vegetables religiously Be kinder than I currently am Fake it (it being all things positive and admirable) till I make it Post more religiously on … Continue reading In which my new year resolution starts in March, 2015
